Someone came to my blog from the search term “husband chaos”. Doesn’t husband mean chaos in some foreign language. They are synonymous, are they not?

Poor

I’ve never really thought about whether we are/were poor or not. There have been times where due to decisions we consciously made we suffered some hard times. But, we’ve never gone hungry or lived without our needs fulfilled. Note I said needs. We have lived without wants fulfilled but not needs. Then today, I read the quote from the SurvivalBlog.com: “You need only do three things in this country to avoid poverty: finish high school, marry before having a child, and marry after the age of 20. Only 8 percent of the families who do this are poor; 79 percent of those who fail to do this are poor.” - William Galston

One of us in the family did not finish high school and we married each other prior to 20. I was 17. The third item, having a child before marriage, we avoided. We’d been married 7 years before having children. It’s a good thing they’re cute and lovable because they are a huge financial drain. (But I wouldn’t trade them for all the money in the world.)

The quote got me thinking. What is “poor”? I know people making two or three times our take home pay that do not live as well as we do. Technically, they live well above poverty level but they can’t make ends meet and they are unhappy. To the other end, I know people making barely more than $10K a year who are happy and want little. I’m not sure you can quantify poor by a number.

There is nothing better than spending a quiet Sunday with the ones you love with good food, good libations and the Eagles!

My project gun - Gun P0rn

As I mentioned, DH gave me a Mossberg 500 Persuader for my birthday.
Mossberg 500 Persuader brand new
He got the pistol grip because he knew I was going to change the stock anyway. The one with the pistol grip had a higher shell capacity and the heat shield — both required. Over the weekend, I will decide if I am going to get a Knoxx Specops Recoil Reducing stock or just an AR style collapsible stock. Then I’ll need to evaluate any other changes that need to be made. This will be home defense and competition gun so it may need some sights.

Search words

One lucky reader came to this blog yesterday by typing “chaos management US military” into a search engine. That’s a scary thought. I would hope that the military training provided during boot camp and after would provide the needed skills to handle chaos of a multitude of types. But, seeing the way the government handles the rest of the education process of America’s youth, maybe it doesn’t. Well, I’m sorry bub, but I haven’t figured it out yet either. Ask my husband, chaos is our life and we don’t manage it very well. But, we’re trying. Check back in a year or so. Maybe hitting 20 years together will clue us in.

Weekend loaded with adventures

We had five days loaded with adventure and fun. We got a lot done, had a wonderful time and was home at a good time yesterday afternoon. I will post more later.

Felt Good

Well, I shot the match with new reloads (never shot this configuration before), new sights and my non-dominant eye.  I taped my dominant eye.  It felt good.  I flubbed a couple of stages but not terribly bad.  Several went very well.  The comradery, BBQ, beer and air conditioning were welcome after shooting in 70 to 90% humidity at 85 degrees F.  It’s rained now and cooled off.  It’s a perfect evening for relaxing in the hottub.

Why

Why do I have a harder time dealing with disappointing my boss than my husband. I screwed up and forgot to tell boss something. He’s not happy. I don’t think he’s pissed but since he’s several states away at a conference, I’m not sure. He’s definitely not happy and that makes me sad and pissed at myself. I piss DH off and figure he’ll get over it. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that DH and I have been together over 20 years now and it would take a lot of pain and court hearings to get rid of each other. I’ve been working for my boss for one year and two words eliminate my job.

Busy, busy, busy

This Saturday, my local club hosts the 2009 Alabama - the Alabama state match for IDPA. You can get details at CAGC’s website. I will be a safety office, my children will be runners and my husband is helping run the whole thing. Then next weekend there is a CMP match locally. I am anxious to try my hand at that. The following weekend is our local monthly USPSA match. Then in the middle of May, we have our local IDPA match on Saturday and a USPSA match at EAGC where I can go shoot with some friends from BWB. That same range has a 3-gun match later that month. Did I mention I work fulltime and have two girls in elementary school, which will be ending for the summer is like 5 weeks? Chaos!

Oh, in my delirium

I forgot to mention while I was gone to camp, DH bought me a new gun. An Bushmaster .223. I will verify the exact model and actually maybe post some pictures. I know, I know, promises, promises.
