I hate traffic

Since starting to drive my big Dodge, traffic is not getting on my nerves nearly as much. Your pace slows down in a big diesel dually. I think the weather (it’s raining yet again), has something to do with my mood.

Alabama is known for being a very easy state to acquire a driver’s license. As such, some of our drivers’ skills are less than exemplary. Many of them are quite aggravating. Since leaving the office last night, I seem to have found many of the more aggravating ones in my area. The left hand lane is for those that want to drive (and typically at high rates of speed), not those that want to sightsee, sit in one spot, etc. It is also not advisable to read a book while driving in the rain. And just because you got a ticket for going well in excess of the speed limit yesterday doesn’t mean you need to travel at 10 mph under the speed limit today. You are a hazard blocking traffic. I could go on and on and on. But, thanks to a nice speaker system in my Dodge and Aerosmith, I’m feeling a bit better and am forgetting those with lesser infractions against the driving public.

Compact cars

If you want to drive a car that will fit in my truck bed that has no get-up-and-go, don’t pull out in front of me. That loud horn and big ugly grill coming toward you should have indicated you screwed up. I nearly nailed your ass. Even empty, I can’t stop on a dime. Those four back tires can only drag that big-ass motor to a stop so fast. Luckily it was fast enough this time.

Also, if you decide you want to drive a car (and I use that term loosely) that will fit in the cab of my truck, get out of the friggin’ fast lane. It’s for vehicles that can actually manage a speed faster than a 8 year old on a bicycle.

Traffic Rants

You may have noticed that traffic rants has subsided in the last couple of months. Back during tax season, I sold my 11 year old car for full retail value. The money is put away. I anticipated buying something to replace it with fairly quickly after tax season when prices got back to normal. However, I have not decided what I want. I like to drive trucks. We have a truck I am driving so I can’t see buying another truck. I small truck with more seats would be more practical but I have a truck.

Anyway, my point is its kinda hard to get too worked up about traffic when you are driving a Dodge 350 dually. It’s a stick shift and you just generally don’t get in a hurry. I did get really worked up one day because the horn wouldn’t work. But, I fixed that. It was a bad ground in the steering column. Now that that’s fixed (and it’s loud), traffic just doesn’t really get to me too bad. So, traffic rants may become fewer and fewer which is probably a good thing.

It’s foggy!

Ok folks. If you can’t figure out what headlights are for, perhaps you should not be driving. Headlights are not just for the dark. They are not just for you to see with. They are to help you BE SEEN! And daytime running lights are not headlights. They aren’t are bright but also, your taillights aren’t on unless you turn the headlight switch on. Pea soup fog requires headlights and taillights. Or, you might get run over by a big ole diesel dually with a little gun chick driving.

Traffic rant

Okay, I love to drive. I hate traffic. Do me a favor, if you feel the need to pull out in front of two cars side by side on a four lane, stomp the damn gas pedal. I mean you’re in a Charger, with a Hemi. Don’t make me stomp the brakes. It just bites.
